QUESTIONS IN PARLIAMENT

WELLINGTON, July 3. A brislt barrage of questions from both sides of the House assailed Mister Speaker during the formal business of the House of Repiresentatives this afternoon but many were of local interest. After the questions the House continued the Address-in-Reply debate which is likely to oeeupy it with little interruption for the next fortnight. Mr. Finlay gave notice to ask whether, in view of the controversy regarding the school broadcast series entitled "How things began, " the Minister of Education would call a confereneo of all interested parties to consider the points that had been made for and against the continuation of the series and to make recommendations to the Government. Mr. T. E. Skinner, in an urgent question to the Minister of Broadcast ing, asked that all New Zealand representative teams touring overseas should be granted the same broadcasting facilities as the Kiwi Rugby team on its 'tour of England and the New Zealand Rugby team on its tour of Australia. Mr. Skinner said a large section of the public was keenly interested in the League team shortly to visit England and France. t, Mr. Jones replied 'that the best broadcasting facilities available would be providedfor teams overseas having regard to the cost of such facilities, the relative amount of public interest in each tour, and the extent to which the broadcast eould be pielced up from the countries in. which the tours were made. Tnquiries on the last named aspect were being made from the B.B.C. in connection with the League team's tour. Mr. Mackley gave notice to ask the Minister of Defeneo whother a loss of I

public mouey had been incurred by unauthorised persons improperly using Air Department orders for the purcliase of railwav tiekets, and if so, to what extent this had been done and by what means the orders come into the possession of unautliorised persons. *"
