Mr. V. E. Tippler spent the weekend as the guest of his parents at Carterton. Mrs. A. S. Hyde and her infant daughter, who have been spendiftg a holiday with Mrs. M. Waterson, at Carterton, has returned home. Mrs. Waterson, Senr., who has been the guest of 'Mrs. E. Retter, Plimmer Terrace, has also returned to her home in Carterton. House Flooded There is four feet of water in the house occupied by Mr. and Mrs. E. Hollis at Buckley. Although Mr. Hollis has placed his furnishings as high as possible in the house, it is expected that considerable damage will be done. This is an unfortunate experience for Mr. Hollis, as he was due to vacate his Buckley farm at the beginning of July. Local Singer's Suecess At the recent Trinity College examinations, held in Wellington, Mr. Richard Lind was successful in passing his Diploma of Licentiate (L.T.C.L.) for singing. Mr. Lind, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Lind, Vance Street, was on the teaching staff of the local school for some months prior to his transfer to the Wilford School, Petone, at the beginning of the present term.
