RAIN AND WIND RECORDS AT WELLINGTON

WELLINGTON, July 1. Records for wind and rain were established in Wellington during ■June. In 21 days 11.02 inches of rain fell, the highest total for June since the records commenced in 1802. The maximum fall of 3.41 inches was the highest daily fall recorded for June. The daily wind run of 241 miles was 56 miles above the average, giving 1947 the windiest June since 1931. Gusts oi 96 miles an hour over Rongotai in the recent storm were a New Zealand records while at Kelburn a gust of 76 miles an hour was a local record for June.
