OTAKI FOOTBALL CLUB
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING The fortnightly meeting of the Otaki- Football Club was held on Wed'nesday night, Mr. E. J. Cook presidirig. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. Kelleher and Cahill, , while a welcome was accorded Mr. W. Watt,. representative of the Rahui Club. It was, stated that as. no match had been played last Saturday on account of wet weather, no payment was due for referee's expehses. . A letter was received from Mr. E. N. Cu'nningham, accepting the , pc-sition of vice-president, and enclosing a donation. It was reported that the Wairoa junior representative team was due in Otaki on August 16, and it was decided to entertain the members at a dance in the Raukawa Hall. It was pointed out that the union would meet the expenses incurred in connection with the visit, these to be taken from the gate proeeeds. It was stated that as the senior representative team would be visitir.g Wairarapa on Saturday next there would be no senior championship matches, but that junior champio'nship games would be olayed, Otaki juniors to play at Waikanae, and the fourth grade at Foxton, while Rahui would play Wanderers at Otaki. It was„ stated that Mr. Watt had been appornted to filRa vacancy on the Rahui committee in plaee of Mr. Fitzgerald, who had resigned. It was agreed to give Rangi Raika a clearance from the club. he being desirous, on account of his weight, to play for a third grade team. Notice to this effect will be forwarded to the union and to the Rahui Club, the club he wishes to jorn. It was stated that no less than six senior representative games had been arranged to be played in Levin, and in consequence the committee decided to make application for the Wellington game to have: its venue at Otaki. This would obviate extra travelling distance, and suit the . city players. The match has been, arranged for August 30. On the motion of Mr. Watts, Mr. Cook was thanked for the interest he had displayed * in the • Rahui Club and football in general. There being no "showers" on the domai'n, it was agreed to make application to the Borough Council to install two, which it was considered were neeessary in the interests of sport generally. The next meeting of the committee was fixed for Thursday, July 10.
