INCOME TAX BLACK LIST
WELLINGTON, June 26. Scliedules giving the names of all persons (including companies) who, in res pect of certain offences relating to taxa tion, have been convicted or who have been charged the penal tax or pena) charge from the date of the passing of the respective Act to Marcli 31, 1047, are gazetted. The first scliedule, which relates to persons convicted, contains nine names and the penal tax imposed ranges from £2o0 to £10,000. The seeond scliedule, which lists persons who have not been prosecuted but Iiave been charged the penal tax- for evading or attempting to evade payment of income tax, or making default in performance in any duty imposed by tlie Land and Income Tax Act with intent to evade payment of income tax, contains 28 names with penalties vatying from £25 to £3000. The tliird scliedule which deals with persons who have been charged with the penal charge under section 12 of the Finance Act (number two) 1946 for failure to deduet social security charge and national security tax from wages or other moneys, or having deducted any such cjigrge, haye fail.ed to account for it to the Commissioirer of Taxes, contains three names, one penalty being £200 and thg others £50 each.
