LONDON, June 25. Twenty-sev&n natious have now '&ccepted the hrvitation to participate in •the Olytnpie 'Games in London nfe'xt .year. The latest aceeptances received are from Australia, Cuba, Denmark, Egypt, Hungary, Finland, Franefc, M'exico, New Zearnnd, Norway, Palestine, Poland, Spain, Switzerland artcl Turkey. Aceeptances already anuounc ed were. from. Bulgaria, Canada, Eirfe, Great Britain, Greece, Ieeland, Italy, Lich'tenst'e'in, Luxembourg, Netherland^, Portuga'l, and Sweden. The British team is expected to num ber 348 and will compete in every event. France will send 30'8 eompetitors, Swit zerland 270 aird Norway 150. Arts eompetitions will also be held hi conjunction with the games. Subjects covered are literature, sculpture, paint. ing, graphie art, architecture aiid musie and all work submitted must have been eompOsed or exeeuted subsequent to January 1, 1944. Details of these eompetitions are being circutated through the natiohal olympic committees. An exhibition 'of works of art is to be held during the games and the organisation of &h Olympic concert is under consideration. Arrangements for the art eompetitions will be undertaken by & ffrie "arts com mittee tinder the chairmanship of General Sir Ronald Adam and the follow ing ehairmen of suo-committees have been appointed: Literature, Sir Alan Herbert; music, Sir Arnold Bax; architecture, Sir Percy Thomas; painting, Mr Norman Wilkinson.-; Sculpture, Sir William Reid Diclc; graphie art, Mr. Maicolm Osborn. Sir Malcolm Sargent, who is a member of the music sub-commit-tee, will eonduct a massed ehoir of 1200 voices and also the massed hands which will perform at the imposing opening and closing ceremonies. The King has agreed provisionally to open the games on July 29, l'948.
