OTAKI BOWLING CLUB
MEMBERS' ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Otaki Bowling Club was held on Tuesday night, when there was a splendid atte'ndance. Mr. W. Wilson, president, occupied the chair. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. Atmore, Lowry, Grey, Cahill and Olliver. The report, already published, and the balance-sheet were read and adopted, and most. favourably commented on. Mr. Wilson considered that the club had had an excellent year, and that it was very gratifying to know that it was in a solid financial position. It was decided to write to Mr. C. Grey, who is still in hospital at Palmerston North, wishing him a speedy and complete recovery from his illness. A similar letter will be sent to Mr. F. Boggs, who is in hospital in Wellington. The resignation of Mr. A. R. Knox was received and accepted with regret. The following ofiicers were elected: — Patron: Mr. L. G. Lowry (re-eleeted) ; president: Mr. W. Wilson (re-elected) ; ~ vice-presi-dent: Mr. J. D. Avery (re-elected) ; hon. secretary: Mr. M. J. McGilligan (re-eLected) ; hon. treasurer: Mr. H. ®Nicolson (re-elected) ; auditor: Mr. R. Mr. Wilson, in returning thanks for his re-election as president, stated that he was pleased to know that the club had had such a good season, and he assured all that he would do his best during the coming season, which, he considered, would be as equally successful and enjoyable. Referenee was made to the fine work of the secretary, and it was agreed to grant him an honorarium of £5. Mr. B. A. Guise was elected as the club's delegate on the Wellington Centre. It was agreed that the joining fee for the year be the same as last year, viz., £3 10s for ordinary members and £2 for first year players. It was reported that Mr. D. Noble had made a generous donation to the club and thanks were accorded him. The matter of improving the pavilion was discussed, and it was also thought that no further .time should be lost in carrying out the work.. Mr. Bartosh , considered, that good work cbuld/ be tfone at' little" expense, most of the timber in, the building being sound, with a good deal of iron that could be mad* use of. He added that Mr. Walsh would only be too pleased to assist, and was conversant with the work desired. Major-General Young favoured waiting till funds were available and then to erect a building that would be a credit. Mr. Bartosh received support from other members, Mr. Noble agreeing that good work could be done at little cost. Mr. Cole moved that the advice of a builder be secured and this was agreed to. The matter was then referred to the committee, with power to act. . • Afternoon tea arrangements were • criticised, some members considering that they* could be lmproved on, while others felt that they compared most favourably with other clubs. Some thought that a profit should be shown from f ^eas- T^e matter was left to the committee.
