Mr. P. J. Twomey, director of the Repers' Trust Board, has now left •hospital and will shortly conduct his annual appeal for -the island lepers. Messrs. A. G. Alexander (Auckland district), W. Kennington (Wellington district) and F. Par•sons (Taranaki district) have been elected to the board ot direc:tors of the National Dairy Association of New Zealand, Ltd. Tpe death occurred last evening of Mr. Hope Gibbons, Mayor of Wanganui, for four years from 1924. A prominent member. .'.of fanany local bodies during more than 50 years of residence in Wanganui he was the head of a family _ with commercial ' interests. mainly in the motor industry. Prior to going to Wanganui to take over- a brewery he had been in business In Nelson, Onehunga and. Gisborne 60 years ago." Born at Launceston. Tasmania, in October, 1856, he arrived in New Zealand with his parents six years later. He receiVed the M.B.E. for patriotic work in World War I and was made a Commander of the Order of St. John for St. John ambulance services.
