AUCKLAND, June 24. As no reports have been received of the 27ft. American yawl Alone since sne left tSuva on May 2 for Auckland in the course of a world voyage, it is now feared she has been lost. A. fort- , night after she cleared Suva ^ very severe weather was experienced in the probable area of her traek and since then a number of gales have swept the Tasman and the waters north of New Zeaiand. The Alone carried a erew of two — Mr. Francis Agnew, of Los Angeles, owner-skipper, and Mr. T. Bish, of Suva. The yacht reached Suva ia February from Panarna and Tahiti. After visiting New Zealand Mr. Agnew proposed to cross the Tasman to Sydney and then to proceed by way of Torres Strait and the Indian and Atiantic Oeeans to Panama. *
The fears of Auckland yachtsmen for the yawl are contained in a letter which will be sent to the Suva Yacht Club by Mr. W. A. Ure, secretary of the Royal Akarana Yacht Club which had ' been asked to provide hospitality for the visitors. "As there is stili no sign of the Alone, ' ' states Mr. Ure, "my committee views with grave apprehension the probability of her having met with disaster on her voyage from Suva. We presume you have had no word of her having turned about and gone to Australia or to some other Paciflc Island. We have done everything we can from this end and have had aircraft on the Norfolk Island service and on the Tasman run keep a lookout. Tliey have seen no sign of her. ' '
