WELLINGTON, June 24. . The management committee of the Wellington Rugby Union tonight suspended a junior Maori footballer for life foflowing a charge of assault'ing a referee on the field. This is belieYed ^to be.tlib'' first sentence of its kind inflicted by the Union. This was the sequel to a match on May 31. Three persons, the Maori boy, the coach who called the team off the field during the progress of the game, and a player who was ordered off for objeeting to the referee 's ruling, were notified to appear before the Union.
