Personal Mr. Trevor Jones, of Hastings, is at present the guest pf Mr. a*nd Mrs. H. F. Tews. Mr. and Mrs. J. Ballinger, who have been on a holiday trip in the north, have returned to Otaki. Mr. H.,B. Edhouse, who hasbeern confined to his bed for the past three weeks, has made a good recovery and is baek at business. Mr. P. Fox, who has been in the Navy for many years, and who was a well-krnown member of the Achilles when she was in action during the war, intends to join the police staff at Wellington. Miss Margaret Fox, of Otaki, leaves for Papakura today and early next month sails for Japan. Miss Fox, who is a very popular young lady, will carry with her the best wishes of a large circle of friends. River in Flood Consequent on the heavy rains on Monday and Tuesday the Otaki River has been in high flood, running almost from bank to bank. Huge trees and logs have come down with the turbulent waters. At Rangiuru water is across the road nnd several farms are inundated. At Tasman Beach properties are also suffering in consequence of the heavy rains, while at Te Horo and other places along the line flood water is considefable.
