Erosion At Paraparaumu The sandhills along the Paraparaumu Beach have been carried away for an average width of 12 feet by the high tides in the last few days. Where boat runways used to slope down to the beach there is now a sheer drop of eight or 10 feet. Many- residents have lost steps which they had built from their properties down to the beach. There is still a width of about 10 feet of sandhills between the legal fence line and the highest point reached by the water, however. Crossing Collision A collision between the Auckland- Wellington express and a motor-car occurred on the Paraparaumu level crossing at 12.28 p.m. on Sunday. The driver of the car was Mr. L. H. Humpherson, Tirangi Road, Rongotai, Wellington. With him in the car were his wife and their two young children. None of them was injured. The train just caught the front of'tne car and knocked it aside, damaging it slightly. The express was running late because of a slip on the line. The crossing accident delayed it for a further 12 minutes.
