Steeplechase To Whooray

The Rangitikei Racing Cluh's Winter Meeting was held at Bulls in weather which was fine early but which deteriorated rapidly just after noon when heavy rain set in and continued for a considerable time. The course was ih wonderfully good order and the going, though it cut out towards the finish, was excellent for winter racing. There was a good attendance and patrons enjoyed a day's fine sport with the programme, which was- commenced just before 11 a.m., brought to a conclusion at 3.42 p.m. The officials worked under difficulties but the meeting was well run. For the last races the.preliminaries were cut out and the horses went to the post just before the totalisator was closed. The totalisator investments amounted to £30,391 10s, and the total would have been larger but for the rain. There was not a winter meeting last year.
