Reslrktions In Horowhenua Lifted / - ' * . • Consequent on the statement t>f the Minister on- Saturday that an . amprovement had taken place in the power situation, the Horowhenua Electrac Power Boaird 'announces ait'erati'ons . in . power rationing in its. distriet. „ Wa-terheaters will now be permitted to -operate' from 6 p.m. to, 7 a.m. daily, ,a total of 13 homrs. The ban on -electric heater-s hds been lifted, except that they may notTbe uSed during the peak load period ■of from 4 to 6 p.m. In addition the quarter-h'our cilt-offs Will he dispensed with. Commenting, the managingsecretary, Mr. R. A. Frederikson, -sai-d -this morndng that if watbrheaters. were permitted to operate continuously the drain on the fooard"'s allocation would be t'oo heavy. The hours were tentatiVe for the present and when the effect on consumption could be seen a further increase in the hours might be possible. Though the quarter-hour cuts had been eliminated it might be found necessaty to wholly or partially reintroduce 'them if the -position deteriorated. Mr. Frederikson warned that action would be taken against consumers who were fotmd to be usihg waterheaters or radiators during the prohibited hours. He also said that there was a possibility that the department might find it -necessary to impose cuts during peak load periods.
