Received Wednesday, 11 a.m. ' LONDON, June 17. "We hope that as a result pf oqp activities we may bring back prosperity, happiness and peace to Europe," said Mr. Bevin, who arrived in Paris by a*r f?om London today for talks with the French Governqient pn the American aid proposal.

, Mr. Bevin said he proppsed u to discuss with the French Government ways and meansof implementing Mr. Marshall's offer of economic assistance for Europe. He hoped all European nations would participate in Mr. Marshall's plan. The French President, M. Vincent Auriol, pledging support for Mr. Marshall's plan, said: "The French Republie salutes Mr. Marshall's audacious and wise initiative as a beacon light." M. Auriol added that France must welcome Mr. Marshall's plan with enthusia'sm and pursue the path proposed with resolution. The Associated Press' Moscow correspondent reports that Britain has requested talks with Russia regarding the American plan for aid to Europe. It is presumed that

jthe British Ambassador, Sir Maurice Petersen, will visit M. IMolotov this week. I In both British and French jofjicial circles there is a tendjency to warn against expecting itoo much too fast on the plan jMr. Marshall has asked Europe ( to produce, says Reuter's Paris j correspondent. They know it | is bound to be a slow and i laborious task, even assuming !the full co-operation from all icountries in attendance. I Observers believe that Mr. Bevin and the French Foreign Minister, M. Bidault, will at least try to reach a decision on whether it is wiser to aim now for an optimum overall plan base.cb on consultation between "everything west of Asia," or start planning nearer home while keeping the door open for the eventual participation of Russia and Eastern Europe.
