TODAY'S TEST MATCH
AUSTRALIAN S EXPECT- VICTOBY FOR THEIR SIDE. Received Friday, 9.50 p.m. SYDNEY, June 13. Tlie All Black forward Fred Hobbs has had to stand down from the first Rugby Union test against Australia tomorrow because of an injured musciej above the right knee. Johnny Smith is also out with knee trouble. Grant, who injured his knee in the Canberra mateh and has a cold, was in doubt but will play. The team announced today is: Full-back: Scott. Three-quarters.: Argus, Goddard, McLean. Five-eighths: Allen, Coueh. Half: Tetzlaff. Forwards: Simpson, Catley, Dalton, Grant, Frazer, Whito, Arnold, Thornton. White will be vice-captain. An Australian selector and the' coaen of the Queensland team, Mr. E. Bonis, speaking in Brisbane, tipped that Australia would win the Rugby Union Test against New Zealand tomorrow. "I thinlc * the forwards are very evenly matched, but the Australian backs are superior to those of New Zealand," he said. . The remarks were made after he and Messrs H. Masters and D. Cowper had put the Australians through a rousxng training programme. The faults disclosed in line-out work last Saturd&y were dealt with to the satisfaetion of Messrs Bonis and Masters. The Sydney Morning Herald comments on the selection as a reserve of the 18-year-dld Queensland winger John Fogarty, weighing 10.7, as emphasising the difficulty of finding class wingers for the overseas tour. The Herald says that at the moment the only ones sure of selection are Eastes and . Tonkin. The seleetors considered bringing Preston or Nation from Sydney as. a reserve for tomorrow, bnt deeided that neither showed to sufficient advantage on Tuesday against .New Zealand*
