MEAT PRICES SOARING
UNITED STATES PRICES Received Friday, 8.30 p.m. NEW YORIv, June 13. The wholesale prices of beef cattle soared to record heights on the nation 's livestock markets today. The average of steefs and yearlings a1 Chicago approximated 26 dollars a 100 lb., pas'sing the peak of 25 dollars 40 cents reached immediately after price controls were lifted in October 1946. The Agriculture Department said prices had advanced despite increased domestie production and decreased purchases by foreign buyers.
