The Exeeutive Gouncil today ap proved of amendments to the wage pcgging regulations whicli will permii the introduction by the Btate Govern ment of the 40-hour week in New Bouth Wales. The change in New Bouth Wales is now expected to oper ate from July 1. The Government acted touay follow ing representations to Mr. Chifley h\ , the New Boyth Wales Trades and Labour Council whieh pointed out tha' costly litigation and possibly a Bt.at"wide tie-up would follow the invalida tion of the Btate law. . In Sydney todav the State Ministei (J\j4- Haiiiiiton Ivnight) said that all State Government euiployees would work the 40-hour wdek even if they were under Federal awards.
