WELLINGTON, June 13. The abandoiunent of the system of selective rationing of fully-fashioned hosiery on "X" coupons was announced today by the Minister of Bupply (Mr Nordmeyer). Froin Monday next all stockings, previouslv said only against "X,J coupons, wili kbe , available for two ordinaiy coupons under the general elothing rationing scheine, said the Minister. ' > This relaxation was made possible by the increase in the availability of silk stockings from overseas sources, and the improved prospects of production in local mills. The Minister said there should be aniple supplies to meet the needa of womenfolk from now on, and the speciaj rationing system was no longer nec essa ry, , al thougii , with the continued over-all shortage of.materials and garments,. it' Ava-a; still desirable to inehide all hosiery iif the general elothing rationing scheme. "I make this announcement with the greatest satisfaction, as this is the first of the consumer rationing contvols to be abobshed in accordaace with the announced intention of the Government to eliminate such controls as soon as the public interest permits," said Mr. Nordmeyer. "I am alsd pleased to take this opportunity of thanking the retailors and their federation for their jnvaluable assistanee in operating this most successful scheme for the past flve years."
