FRENCH RAIL STRIKE OVER
, PARIS, Jnne 12. The Fi-ench rail strike has been settled and the union ordered the men to return to work this morning. . The agreement between the Government and Railwaymen's Union represents a compromise on both sides. The' Government agreed to salary increaSes totalling £20,625,000 for the last half of 1947. The railwayinen originally demanded £25,000,000 while the Government 's maximum offer on June 10 was £16,000,000. It is -expected to be several days before all the gervices are back to normaL . u .
