After a speciaJ training rdii today to test hi§ injured right leg, the All Blacks' captain, Fred Alien, announced that he would play in the first test on Baturday, reports the Bydney Bun's Rugby writer, Mr. E. W. Kann. Allen admit ted that his leg was not as good as h-e would have liked but he wds de.ermined to play. The Australian Captain, Dr. Phil Hardcastle, has been responsible for getting his rival captain ready for the test. Hardcastle visited Allen 's hotel i his morning and speCially bandhged his leg for the tryout. Allen went to the exhibition gfeund wlrere the match will be played and gave his leg a thorough test. He said lie felt only one slight twinge of pain during the workeut. Mr. Kann says New Zealand 's team for the flrst test is expected to be: Gcott, Argus, Goddard, McLean, Allen, Oouch, Tet/daff, Simpson, Batley, Frazer, Grant, Hobbs, Arnold, White, Thornton. The "Queensland centre, Kevin Bourke, has withdfatvn from the Australian team because of a shoulder injurv and his place will probably- be laken by Alan Walker, of New South A'ales. Bourke 's injury, whicli has prevented him from. playlng since his returu from Sydney with the Queensland team last month, hak not responded to treatment as quiekly as expected. He said todav that he Would withdraw froin the test -rather than jeopardise Australia 's chances.
