SHIPS HELD UP BY PIRATES

Hoodod pirates in Malacca Strait struek again for the second time in a woek wIhmi oi) the night of June 5 they no;iril(:il the Siiigaporo bouiid Tongkang and seized a cargo of incense valued at more than 9000 Straits dollars (about £1100). The pirate craft bore down on the Tongkang five miles north of Port Hwetteniiam. Five Chinese, each hoodod and armed with a revolver, leaped aboard t.lie Tongkang and forced the •rew, working throughout the day, to t ransfor the cargo aboard tlieir craft. The previous piracy occurred on June 1 when hooded pirates looted a rubber cargo worth 4000 Straits dollars and sliot one of the crew, 20 miles north of Port Dickson. I
