PAHIATUA RESIDENT'S LUCK
The investment of ls ld each in an Australian consultation was found to have paid handsome dividends for six members of the staff of the Dannevirke railway station when the results werd made available on Monday. Among the lucky invcstors who share a prize of £10,000 is Mr. H. Sturgess, at present station master at Pahiatua. When the prizemoney is apportioned his share will be almost £1700. The ticket was bouglit while Mr. Sturgess was stationed in Dannevirke, the syndicate of six people adopting the naine of "Sleepy Eox." News of his gobd fortune was received late on Monday afternoon by Mr. Sturgess. A distorted report quickly ' began to flash along the town ^grapevine" to the effect that "someone at the railway station had won 10,000 ' ' quid ' ' Mr. Sturgess stated on Tuesday morning that he had oeen in the habit of buying shares in lottery tickets every fortnight, but had never struck any luclc until now. fThe ticket was the last in which, he ha^ bought-",an interest before being transferred to Pahiatua.
