SAVINGS RANK GIFTS TO MARK CENTENARY
AUCKLAND, June 10. Grants totalling £25,000 to public, patriotic, charitable and educational institutions, were announced by the presidcnt of the Auckland Savings Banlc, Sir Krnest Davis, to commejnorate the bank's centenary« Sir Ernest announced the grants during his address at the eeremony when a eommemorative tablet was unveiled by the Governor General. After making provision for reserves, said Sir Ernest, the trustees sinee 1900 with Government and legislati\re sanctions, hua made grants to many deserv ing objeetives and no less tlian £163,000 had been distributed. To mark the cen tennial celeliration. the trustees had decided to inake further grants. The list is hcaded- by the sum of £10,000 to an approved Auckland ' war inemorial sub'jeet to the seleetion being one to which savings bank funds may be applied.
