An appeal to telephone ' us'ers to show a degree of toleranee when PUtting through calls was made by the - postmaster, Mr. L. A. Whitham, in the course of an interview yesterday. _ Transfers and resignations from the staff were occurring from hme tp time and the present staff shortages- made it impossible for the department to make replacements available, with the result that operators had to be found locally and trained. Five local girls had been employed under this system recently.
