The target before tlie floods was 2,500,000 acres. Mr. Williams added that 690,000 acres of farmland were fl'ooded at one period and 7000 acres were s'til'l flooded. Most of 'tlie drained land had been cultivated and sown since the floods. The farmers had performed marvels.
