I . - * Decisive Win for Abdicate In Manawatu Steeples The Manawatu Racing Club's Winter Meeting was opened on Saturday in fine but overcast weather but light rain fell just before the big steeplechase > and again before the concluding event. There was a very good attendance and the totalisator turnover, £61,163, was £4547 helow last year's total which was £65,710. The course was in perfect order and the racing both ovei the fences and on the flat was wonderfully good. • .
