KIOSK ROOF COLLAPSES
SVDNEY, June 8. During a City versus -Country Rugby League matcli at tlie Sydney showground vesterday, tlie corrugated iron roof of tlie refreshment kiosk which was being used as an impromptu grandstand, collapsed and over 100 spectators fell 20 feet into the kiosk. Poiice and ambulance men rushed to the scene of the accident whei'e hysterieal women and children were struggiing amongst the w reekage; Six ambulance-? raced to aid tlie injured among the seething mass of people in the kiosk. . Neai-ly 100 people suffered cuts ana bruises which required attention. Eonrteen were rushed to hospital for int|u»•ies. ranging from possible ihternal eomplications and broken bones to lacerations caused by Corrugated iron. One woman has a fractured leg and probable fracture of the skull, and seven men have fractured ribs, legs or ankles.
