It can be used as a substitute for whale oil, which at the moment fetches the high price of £90 per ton. It has been estimated that" approximately 500 tons of eels migrate annually from Lake Ellesmere, where the plant is situated.

Rehabilitation Loans Rehabilitation loans to the value of £1,131,626 were authorised during April, as compared with £1,342,175 during the previous month of March. The April authorisations bring the curreiit total up to £36,843,272. Schoolgirl Injui'ed A schoolgirl, Beverley Margaret Anderson ,aged eight years, received injuries which necessitated her removal to the Palmerston North Hospital when the 'cycle she was riding was invojved in an accident With a motor car outside the home of her parents on the KairangaBunnythorpe highway at 3.30 p.m. yesterday. The girl was just about to turn off the road into the drive of her parents' .residence when the accident occurred. The bicycle was not extensively damaged, .but the girl was tossed high into the air. She received a deep cut in her back and suffered from abrasions and br'uises. Her condition last night was reported to be satisfactory. The car wns driven by Mr. H. J.
