An elderly man was burned to death in a lire which broke out in a bedroom in Christchurch yesterday. He was Mr. Archibald Charles Jenkins, s'i^le, aged 63, of Sydenham. Mr. Jenitins, who was a pensioner, was dead when reached by a fireman. Five other people in the house who were separated from the fire by a ipartition, had lueky escape*. They were not aware of the outbreak until a young man rushed into the house and woke tliem up. Every room in the house was then full of smolce.
