Spruille Braden, Assistant-Secre-tarv of State for Latin-America, for months had opposed the ^ecretary of War and ihe Secretarv of the Navy, who desired to transfer a considerablt quantity of equipment to Canada and to Katin-Americari Repubiics as a means of improving hemisptlere defences. _Afr. Braden had argued this would strength en the non-democratic more than the democratic elements. AIi. Afarshall hus overruled , Alr Braden and has reconimended Presidenl Truman to proceed with the legislation without delay.
