SOON TO BE SCREENED IN N.Z.
From her -period "role in "The Wicked Lady-," - Margaret Lockwood jumps the centuries to land again in. modern times, ; leaving behind her the sw'eeping- skirts and rustling satins of ' Gharles the Second's day ahd emerging in smart but equally" attractive modern clothes, for her role in John Corfield's "Bedelia," which has been released here ' by Gaumont •Jritish Dominions. Adapted from a best-selling novel by Vera Caspary, the author of "Laura," which also made a very successful film, . "Bedelia" is a psychological thriller with an unusual twist. So controversial is the finale, in fact, that two endings have been shot — one for showing in Britain and elsewhere, and one for American audiences. This is in order to com3ly with the Hays Bureau code which does not allow a criminal to. evade the arms of the law. "Bedelia" is shortly to be released in New Zealand.
