THE BIBLE IN EVERY DAY LANGUAGE

Received Thursday, 7 p.m. LONDON. Mav 22.

A new translation of the Bihle into ordinary every day langitage, is to be prepared to ' ' combat the widespread and horrifying ignorance of the Scriptures." The decision was made at the Convocation of Canterbnry when it was decided to appoint representatives to sit with the interdenoramational editorial committee to help with the publication of a new Bible. The Bishop of Oxford declared that the new version woitld be better than the revised edition of the revised version of the Bible. Six translators — three for the Old Testament, two for the New Testament and one for the Apocrypha — would probably wofk on the new version. With them would be a master of English prose. The matter wonld be discussed with the Americans who h'ad already started on a new translation, and the University presses of Oxford and Cambridge would be concerned in the publication.
