WANGANELLA TRIBUNAL MAY NOT RESUME

-Press Association

By Teiegravn—

WELLINGTON, May 20. It will not he known until members of the Tribunal meet tomorrow, whether the hearing of special claiins ".oncerned with the Wanganella disputc will be renewed. The uncertainty arismfrom a doubt that ihe employers' representatives on the Tribunal will agroe. to continue because of the poor response of tradesmen to rcturn to thc workshops of William Gable and Company, repair contractors. A renewed hearing ivas niade conditional on the men returning to work. By Monday night J59 of the 210 men had gone back and the total was increased by only four today A It is understood the em ployers expect about 75 per cent. of thc men who resigned to return to thei duties as part of last week 's agreemengoverning the resmnption of the Tri bunal. The present response represent slightly more thaji one-third of the mei. No ofiicial statement regarding th likelv attitude of" the employers wa. available tonight. It is thought likely, hovvever, that a further ad.jourmnent o4' the Tribunal will be askecl for. Some time ago Mr. Iv. A. Belford, in dustrial offieer for the Union Hteamshir Cov., who represented the employers on the Tribunal, announeed his intention of withclrawal, but it was stated to night that the misunderstanding which led to Mr. Belford 's decision has been cleared up. and he would talce his plaeo when the Tribunal sat. Mr. A. C. Dellaway, president of the Wellington Waterside Workers ' LTnion, will replaee Mr. T. Hill who left Wellington today for Auckland. With Mr. II. Barnes, national president of the Waterside Workers' Union, Mr. Hill is going to 1 Australia' for uuion consultationB. '
