WELLINGTON, May 19. F. R. Allen (Auckland) will captaiu. the All Blacks in Australia with F. G. Hobbs (Canterbury) as vice-captain. This . recommendation by the selectors was approved at today's meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union. The t.eam will fly in two sections from Auckland, on May ,30 and 31. It was announced that the following would leave by the first plane: Scott Argus, Goddard, McLean, Allen, Couch, Tetzlalf, Simpson, Catley, Dalton, Grant, Willocks, Hobbs, Arnold, Thorn ton, Bevan, McCormick. In reply to a request from 'New Zealand asking if it cared to put for'" ward the proposed visit by a French team to 1948 instead of 1949, the French Rugby Federation advised that it preferred -to adhere to the 1949 in(Vitation as it required another season in which: to make preparations. It was also felt that ' communicatio'n with Australia ahd New Zealand might be easier in 1949. Protests' from North Otago and Poverty Bay Unions at the lack of consideration given country players in the ehoice of players for All Black trials, were referred to the selectors.
