BLAZE IN HOTEL
fieceived Moiidav, 8 p.m. • > SYDNEY, May 19. Rescuers had to flght their way through dense smolce to save two men,a woman and .a baby from the fiereely burhing Royal Hotel at Gunnedah today. Oue nian was dragged unconscious by the woman along the blazing, smoite lijled .corridor. She was running along the corridor when' she stumbled ovef the body of tlie man. She mahaged t6 drag him to the top of the staira befoTe they were located by rescuers. All iho.se overeome with smoke recovered after 'treatment. The flce, which ghtted the left wmg of the hotel and tlyree .offices in the building, commenced in the early liours and raged for five hours before bemg brought under control by the Gunnedah brigade. The damage is estirnated at £15,000.
