LEVIN RED CROSS SOCIETY
CLOTHES DRIVE DISCUSSED The usual monthly meeting of the Levin Red Cross Society was held recently in 'the Women's Division rooms. Mrs. Blake presiding over a splendid attendance. Prior to the opening of the meeting, Mrs. Blake referred to the loss the society had suffered by the death of Mr. W. Davie. He had always been 'a generous helper and would be greatly missed. Members stood in silence as- a mark of respect to his memory. At the concluSion of the business a discussion took place concerning the clothes drive to be organised by the Red Cross throughout New Zealand. The meeting decided to have a receiving depot outside the post offi.ce on Friday, May 30, between 9 a.m.( and 5 p.m. The activities of the sewing guild were favourably commented upon. Mrs. Wilson stressed the need for continuing to help in the supply of food parcels for Britain. Several donations were received for this purpose. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses Mesdames TattenFraser and Thomson.
