MAGISTRATE'S COURT
The monthly sitting of the Magistrate's Court, Otaki, took place on Thursday, Messrs. W. McBeth and F. H. Critchley presiding. Charles Elvines was charged with exceeding the speed limifc. Inspector Davy said defendant travelled up to 60 m.p.h. at Te Horo, and when questioned had given 110 excuse for his speed. A fine of £2 10s, with 12s costs, was imposed. R. N. Spiers ' was fined £5, with 10s costs, for excessive ldading of a truck. Inspector Davy told the court that the overload was 2 ton. 3 cwt. Young Sam paid a penalty of 30s for having no warrant of fitness and £2 for driving a motor vehicle without a license. Inspector Davy said defendant ' was on his way to Levin at the time, ,and had several Maoris on his truck.
