INDIA OPPOSES SEALING DOWN OF STERLING BALANCES

Arising from the recent state- ; ment by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Dr. Hugh D.alton, thg-1 Britain's sterling balance depts must be scaled down, the Ihdian Government has sent a protest note announcing its oppositic|n to any scaling down of India's ftygive £120,000,000 sterling balances'. ' ' The note added that any decision regarding the liquidation of balances must be as the result of consultation between thd 'two Governments. Any other policy would be detrimental to the good relations between Ipdia and Great Britain.
