MR. A. V. O'BRIEN GIVING UP DUTIES AS JUDGE
Prior to the opening of the Egmonr Racing Club 's winter meeting, which concluded on Saturday, Mr. A. "V. O'Brien, who has acted as judge for u nuinber of-years, advised the president, Mr. W. 0. Williams, that hc -ed to relinquish the position at th. 1 or the current season in order t icen-. trate on handleapping. On -Saturday, during an interval, Mr. O'Brien was met in the committee room by the stewards, on wliose behalf the president' accepted the resignation with regret, paying a eulogistic tribute to Mr. O 'Brien 's long association with the club and the good service he had rendered. Mr. O'Brien is also judge for the Wanganui Jockey Club. It is understood that he intends to relinquish ali judging appointments, as his handicapping duties take up so much of his time. Mr. O'Brien is handicapper foi the Wairarapa, Otaki, Taranaki, Dannevirke Hunt, Egmont-Wanganui Hunt, Waverley, Carterton^ Napier Park, Ashhurst, Opunake, Levin and Marlborough Clubs. Recently he was appointed in a similar eapaeity by the Manawatu Hunt Club.
