Hines is 32,- of slim, huild and about 5 ft. 11 ins.., with sallow ^.omplexion, dark brown hair and b'lue eyes. Strong -police forces were quickly mread out over ' -the Upper .Hutt, Lower Hutt and'Island Bay areas as soon as t-he escape -was 'repdrtd. The crirne for which he was lentenced was committed at Island Bay. Hines was sentenced *y Mr. Justioe d&hnstdn ■ in. the Supreme Court, Wellington, on August 14 last. In passing" sentence, His Honaur said it was very ' desirable .that Hines should be returned to the United Btates, where' it app.ear.ed he had feeen conyicted on varipus occasiojis for burglary.
