TASTE OF WAR FROM AIR IN FUTURE

High-ranking representatives ofthe Dominions' forces and the United States Air Force were visitors on -Wiltshire Downs, near Devizes, and watched the most modern jet planes, the Meteor IV and the V.ampir.e III demonstrate the latest type of rocKet projectiles which will be used in support of the army on the gronnd. The Times says that shown for the tirst tiipe was the 10301h rockyt projectile, which contains a charge equivalent to that in a 50001b bomb. An Avenger plane fired two siniultaneously from 1000ft. at a range oi 4000 yards. The rockets -struck the tar^et with a tremendous roar. A naval ±"irefly iight'er tired a broadside of 16 601b rocket projectiles. A new type of sight-was psed for firirig the projectiles. Another weapon denionstrated was a homh in the form of a tank hlled . with higlily inflammable material which was carried under the wings of .the plane. Thr.ee hundred sqpare yards of groupd are instantly enveloped in a sheet of flame when the tank .strikes the ground.
