WELLINGTON, May 13. An inquiry by anv appointing body in the teaching service into the religious beliefs of any teachers seeking appointments in the state service, was undesirable, it was resolved by the annual conference in Wellington today of the New Zealand Secondary Scliools Association. A motion first put to the conference was: "That the association | should ask the Government to pass legislation forbidding such inquiries to be made'' hut this was ainended after a general expression'of opinion that conipliance with such a law could not be enforced.
