The South Africans suggested a three or four weeks' tour as against a definite four and a-half weeks suggested by the council. It was deeided to cable to Australia to secure a final settlement of the points in debate, the tourist committee of the council to hold itself on 12 hours' call for their consideration and the suinmoning of the council for the final decision. The tentative programme considered "by the meeting was: — Auckland, June 21; Wellington, June 25; Canterbury (Christchurch), .July 11; Otago (Dun-. edin), July 2; test or New Zealand XI (Dunedin), July 5; test (Christchurch), July 9; test (Wellington), July 12. severn] days at Rotorua; test (Auckland), July 19. Mr. B. L. Martin was appointed the council 's represcntative to the tour. The appointnient of the North and South Island selectors was held over pending the final arrangements.
