N.S.W. ELECTION FIGURES
Received Monday, 8.J0 p.m. SYDNEY, May 12. Some seats in the Nevv Soutli Wales t jeg'islati ve Assembly are still undeided but an unexpeeted win in tne Jarwon electorate gives Labour 5z eats as against 57 in the last Parliament. The result in BarWon illustrates ihe fallacj', even under the preferentiai lystefn, of two Opposition candidhtes .vtanding against one Labour man. Tlie .-ontest was a triangular one between Mr. S. R. Heferen (Labour) and the i'ountry Party candiddtes Messrs E. D. Hllis and G. R. Crawfofd. When the nreferences of one party man were counted all but 90 went to his eolleague >ut theodrift was enough to give tlie nabour man the seat by 42 votes. Aehburnham l;as been retained for Labotir by 218 votes. It is expected that Auburn will he leld for Lang Labotir against officiai l.abour. I11 Namoi Mr. R. G. Hamilton (Lao>ur) leads ATr. M. G. Heath (Gountfy Party) by 331 with a few votes to •oiint. The Lachlan and Grange seats appehT certain to pass to the Countrv Party and Newton vtill probably be held by Mrs. Fowler for Lang Labour.
