Eeceived Bunday, 7 p.m. XEW DELH1, May 10. Four pefsons were killed ahd eight. serioiisly nijured in coinmunal disturbances in Aniritsar on Friday, mostly by .atabbiugs. A Punjab Government eommunique says nine persons were killed and sev&i&l injured in fresh communal disturuaiicos in Amritsar today. The trouble occurred as soon as the curfew wras lifted for three hours to enable the people to buy food. An anned band in Amritsar waylaid twelve persons, sprinltled petrol ovei them and burned seveu to death. Cries and shrieks brought the poliee who J'es cued the other llve who were severely burned. Troops are patrolling tlie streets. A 24 hour curfew has been im posed .in the afifected .areas. The authoii ties imposed a fine of 30s each on more than 0U00 of the area where the burnings Qccurred. The families of the vic tims will receive the proceeds. The poliee, searching the area, seized a large quantity of pickaxes, spears and latliis and arrested 50 suspects. Four persons were killed in the Nallgutta area of Hyderabad in disturbanees arisiug from the arrest and expulsion of Jayaprakash Narain, leader of the Congress Boeialist Party. Viscount Mouhtbatten will meet Mr. Xehru, JMr. Jinnaii and Bardar Bingh on the morning of May 17 and in the after noon will meet the Indian States' representatives in the Constituent Assernbly. Viscount Mountbatten will place before the meetings a plau which his Majesty's Government lvas made for the transfer of power to Indian hands.
