Mr. W. S. Ogier, superviSor of ;he savings bank section of the * • Levin Post Office, is at present on annual leave. Mr. J. t). Aitchison was appoint1 2d at Friday's meeting of * the Horowhenua . County Council to deputise for the chairman, Mr. G. A. Monk,' at a meeting of the Regionai Planning Committee at Palmerston North on May 12. Sergeant W. Grainger, of the Levin Police Station, is at present absent on leave. With Mrs. > Grainger he left Levin on Friday uo visit relatives in the North. Sergeant R. G. Jones, of Palmerston North, is relieving at Levin during Sergeant Grainger's " absence, Mr. S. W. Small, of . the Levin Post Office staff, left last week with . the- Scout contingent for Franee, He was farewelled at a function at the post office and was presented with a well filled pocket book, the contents of which were raised through the efforts of ihe staff. Miss M. E. Edwards, who for the past five years has been employed on the telephone exchange of the Levin Post Office, has been trahsferred on promotion to the Nelson Post Office, where she will be the senior toil operator! On the eve of her departure she was met by the staff, who presented her with a travelling bag.
