FOXTON HAVE ANOTHER WIN
Foxton seniors continued thejr unbeaten record by accounting fop Otaki -Rahui to the tune of 11 points to 6. The game was a stup1 Dornly contested one. Foxton scored all their points before Otaki-Rahui opened their accourit. The teams were: — Foxton: R. Taylor, Willis, R. Evans, C. Evans, Cooper, Jarvis, Ley, Taylor, Devonshire, McNeill, See, Smith, Brown, O'Donnell and Richardson. Otaki-Rahui: Lindsay, Enoka, Webster, Gordon, Gray, Hakaraja, Hoone, Ramsbothom, Winterburh, Wilson, Enoka, Henry, Nicholls, M. Hakaraia and Stevenson. Froni the initial kick-off it was immediately seen that Otakir Rahui would have to be at theff best to win. Although they went on attack from the start, thjey were soon forced on to the defepr sive. Foxton . indulged in a fip,e passing rush, the ball quickly uraversing the whole of the backline, and Otaki-Rahui were foi\tunate in staying the onslaught. A similar rush shortly after lack.ed penetration, and the visitors made little headway. Cooper then' hq,d a good but unsuccessful shot a't goal from well out. Foxton, with another passing movement, kepfr Otaki-Rahui on dgfence, but again the chain broke dpwn when th,e wing three-quarter was reached. Had one of the inside backs cjat in it may have meapt points. Lindsay was biard pressed ohseyeral occasions, but his fine judgment saved his side. Later, however, a high kick beat him, the ball bouncing away; Smith, By smart following up, scored a try, which Cooper failed to convert. ] Foxton 3, Otaki-Rahui nil. The visitors, by solid scrum work and neat passing, frequenjfcly had Otaki-Rahui in trout/le. TDccasionally good runs were p'ut in by Otaki-Rahui backs, but Foxton's collaring was good. Webster had a free kick at goal; it was'a most creditable attempt and just failed. In tiirn Cooper had a shqt place at goal, but also misse'd. The spell ended with no furthpr score. The second half was even more interesting than the first, apd the. home team combined better and improvcd in their scrum work, whi!? ,como of their passing rushcs were good. Foxton, being hard pressed, accepted a force down, while shortly after Otaki again ruslied upfield and attacked, but the ball went dead. In turn Foxton attacked and a series of loose rushes by both sides .followed. Owing to a faulty pass by Otaki O'Donnell took advantage and went across' the line, but Cooper failed to add the major points. Foxton 6, Otaki-Rahui nil. Foxton headed a loose rush and Jaryis went over for..a good try under the bar, which Cooper converted. Foxton 11, Otaki nil. Otaki were still playing well and from a series of free kicks against Foxton Gray kicked a nice goal from well out. Foxton 11, OtakiRahui 3. Later Gray went over for a good try, but Webster failed at goal. Foxton 11, Otaki-Rahui 6. Although the home team tried hard to equalise, Foxton proved eaual to the oe.casion, and frustrated all attacks, • at times attacking strongly ori the Otaki line. The game ended Foxton 11, Otaki-Rahui 6. Mr. c. E. Wiseley was the referee.
