MASTERTON, May 9. Heavy increases in the importation of petrol into Xew Zealand were revealed in iigures released yesterday bj the chairman (Mr. T. A. Johnston) at a meeting in Masterton of the Xo. 10 District Highways Council. The facts disclosed were contrary to some published statements that petrol consumption had shown little change when rationing ended. Mr. Johnston said the position woulu obviously have some bearing on tlie revenue avaiiable to the Main High ways Board.
