MR. MONK CONGRATULATED
APPOINTMENT iTO LOCAL BODY COMMISSION ' "I have been asked by councillors to eongratulate you on your recent appointment to the Local Government Commission, but I think the Government should be congratulated on having a man available with such wide experience in county matters," said Cr. A. J. Gimblett, when addressing Mr. G. A. Monk, chairman of the Horowhenua County Council, at the monthly meeting yesterday. "Looking back over the years, it must be a great" compliment to you to see the people you have sometimes critieised up hill and down dale coming back to off er you this position," said Cr. Gimblett. He added that it was the intention of the council to hold a function in honour of Mr. Monk before the expiration of his chairmanship. Meanwhile, he wished, on behalf of the council, to tender heartiest congratulations to Mr. Monk. Replying, Mr. Monk thanked Cr. Gimblett and the councillors for. their congratulations. There . would be many difficuit duties to - perform on the commission, and he believed his experience with local body affairs would stand him in good stead. In conclusion he again thanked the council for its good wishes.
